Frankie's covers all the bases with beautiful pizza, inventive focaccia, and great beer & wine. Our owners drew inspiration from their visits to Rome, where pizza is sometimes sold by weight. The dough is thinner and packs more crunch than traditional Neapolitan pizza.

In 1923, a young man named Francesco "Frankie" Calabrese left the sun-drenched hills of Calabria, Italy, with nothing but a tattered suitcase, his nonna's pizza dough recipe, and an unshakeable dream.
He arrived at Ellis Island on a cold February morning and found work as an ironworker in Manhattan, helping build the soaring skyline that would define a city. Every evening after bending steel, Frankie would return to his tiny apartment on Mulberry Street and perfect his dough β a ritual that kept his soul connected to the old country.
By 1932, word of Frankie's pizza had spread through the neighborhood like wildfire. Construction workers, dock hands, and neighborhood kids lined up outside his door. So he did what any self-respecting Italian would do β he opened Frankie's Original Slice Shop on the corner of Mott and Grand.
When the Gold Rush of '49 (well, the spirit of it) called men westward, Frankie β ever the adventurer β packed up his pizza peel and headed to California in 1948. He fed gold miners, railroad men, and dreamers from a converted boxcar. "A man can't dig for gold on an empty stomach," he'd say with a grin.
Frankie's strong will to survive, his unbreakable spirit, and his legendary pizza recipe have been passed down through generations. Today, that same spirit lives on in Frankie's Slice Shop in Cork, Ireland β where we honor his legacy with every single slice.

"Frankie's is the best pizza in Corkβwouldn't even know which slice to recommend because they are all so good! You would know a lot of effort went into making everything from scratch."

"Simply magical! Nearly brought a tear to my eye when I sank my teeth into the gorgeous slice of pepperoni. Veramente buonissima, mi sembrava di essere in Italia."
